William Jewell’s Larry Holley Wins No. 800

A 59-56 win over Park University on November 9 has propelled William Jewell College head men’s basketball coach Larry Holley to 800 career wins.

He currently occupies the #15 slot on the all-time career wins list (NCAA/NAIA).

Holley is currently in his 32nd year at the helm of the Cardinals (his 40th year overall as a head collegiate coach), and has an overall coaching record of 800-447.

Holley needs five more wins to pass Eddie Sutton for the #14 spot on the career wins list.

Holley is among America’s elite and legendary coaches, having won more than 800 games during his career and having received 14 Coach of the Year Awards, including the prestigious Sears/NABC NAIA National Coach of the Year Award in 1996. He has also been selected to four Halls of Fame. He has been named to the Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, the NAIA Hall of Fame and the William Jewell College Athletic Hall of Fame.

Holley, who was named Jewell’s “Mr. School Spirit” as a student at the college, lettered four times in basketball from 1963-1967, and has a career record of 713-328 at his alma mater.

Next up for the Cardinals is a matchup against Baptist Bible College on Monday, November 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mabee Center on the Jewell campus in Liberty.
