Basketball Play of the Week
Option Play Vs. Zone Defense
1 has the ball on top at the right side and passes to 2 in the corner. 4 screens in the middle of the lane for 5. 5 uses the screen and either cuts to the short corner or the block, depending on the defense. 3 dives to the opposite block.
2 quickly passes back to 1 and cuts towardthe baseline, running all the way to the weak side. On the pass back to 1, 5 flashes to the top of the key. 4 again steps into the middle of the lane and sets a cross-screen for 3, who breaks to the ball-side elbow. After setting the screen, 4 cuts down to the weak-side block.
1 reverses the ball to 5, as 3 slides down the lane line to the right, low block. 4 establishes solid position on the left, low block and 2 stays wide on the left side behind the 3-point line.
5 throws a quick skip pass over to 2 and cuts to the opposite low block. 1 replaces 5 at the top of the key. 4 steps into the lane and sets a cross-screen for 3 breaking to the short corner or block, depending on the defense. 2 has the option to get the ball in to 3, throw it to 4 rolling across the middle of the lane, shoot the 3-pointer or throw a pass back to 1.
