Basketball Play of the Week
Under-The-Basket, Double-3-Point-Option Play
This play provides two 3-point options, safe passes and a quick hitter off a screen. If no shot is taken, it's easy to reset into any offense. 2 is on the ball-side low block, 1 is at the ball-side elbow. 5 is on the weak-side elbow and 3 is stationed on the weak side. 3 should be a good 3-point shooter.
2 sets an upscreen for 5 who uses the screen and breaks across the lane toward the ball. 1 cuts to the top of the key and 3 breaks behind the 3-point circle on the weak side.
4 inbounds to 3 for a quick 3-point shot (3 is the first option), hits 1 for a 3-pointer (second option) or a quick throw-in to 5 for a power-up move on the block. 1 can also act as a safety release for the inbound pass. After making the pass, 4 cuts inbounds behind 5 on the weak-side short corner to create balance.
