6 Parents File Affidavits Against Coach Who Whipped Players

JACKSON, Mississippi — Murrah High School basketball coach Marlon Dorsey could face several misdemeanor charges stemming from allegations that he whipped students with a weight belt.

The criminal allegations are the latest wrinkle in the case that has divided players and their parents over whether Dorsey should stay or go. Some parents and players have been vocal about wanting Dorsey to keep his job, saying the coach has helped the boys, but made a bad judgment call.

Dorsey has acknowledged that he whipped students and apologized.
