After covering a number of subjects, Syracuse basketball head coach Jim Boeheim was wrapping up and on his way out of his post game press conference following Syracuse’s 57-55 win over Cincinnati.

Then inspiration hit and just like Columbo, he had one more thing to say.

As Syracuse continues the farewell tour of the Big East, Boeheim went back to the podium to get an opinion in on the Big East’s scheduling practices.

While glancing in the direction of John Paquette, who is the Associate Commissioner of Communications for the Big East, Boeheim said this.

“It is ridiculous to play games like this Saturday and Monday. This is ridiculous. It’s stupid. Cincinnati just played four games in eight days and now they are off nine days? We played four games in the league in ten days and now we’re off for another week. It’s ridiculous. This is not the right way to schedule. It shouldn’t be like that. We’re off all week then we have to play Saturday and Monday again. It’s just stupid. Really stupid.”

A glance at the Syracuse schedule shows that the Saturday-Monday scenario Boeheim loathes will come up again two more times.

On Saturday, 2-Feb, Syracuse will travel to Pittsburgh for a noon game before hosting Notre Dame on Monday, Feb 4 at 7:00 p.m.
