Miami Heat strength coach to present at Team Sports Conference

As Winning Hoops readers may have heard in recent months, we’re launching our Team Sports Conference & Expo next year, the premier event for coaches, athletic administrators, athletic trainers and anyone else hoping to learn more about the industry and connect with their peers.

In addition to our exhibition hall, which will feature the industry’s best products, we’ll also host several education sessions, and this week we’re announcing one of our major speakers.

Bill Foran, the head strength and conditioning coach for the Miami Heat, will present a session on age appropriate strength training for speed, power and agility. Increased strength improves speed, power, agility and quickness while reducing the risk of injuries. This session will take a close look at a total body strength program with emphasis on the legs, hips and core.

Foran has been the strength and conditioning coach for all of the Miami Heat’s 27 seasons. During that time, the Heat won 11 division titles, five conference championships and three world championships. Prior to his tenure with the Heat, Foran was the head strength and conditioning coach for the University of Miami. The Hurricane football team had a 55-5 record with two national championships during his time.

Before coming to Miami, Foran was the head strength and conditioning coach for Washington State University. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University and from Michigan State University with a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology. Foran has co-authored four books and was the sole editor of “High Performance Sports Conditioning.” In 2014, Bill was inducted into the USA Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame.

The Team Sports Conference & Expo will feature dozens of on-court, on-field and classroom sessions for coaches and athletic directors. It will be held at Chicago’s Navy Pier, June 27-29, 2016. Look for more announcements in the coming weeks.
