Parents face stalking charges for allegedly harassing coach

A New Jersey couple is facing stalking charges after allegedly sending anonymous emails over a two-year span in an attempt to get a basketball coach fired from his school.

From NorthJersey.com:

Cresskill (N.J.) police said in the stalking complaint that David and Nanci Kushner, who have a son who plays basketball for Cresskill High, allegedly used a “fake name” and the email address [email protected] to communicate with school officials on four occasions from February 2013 to January this year “in an attempt to have him dismissed” from his position as a coach and a health teacher. They allegedly sent emails to coach Michael Doto using another fake name and the email address of the coach, “with the purpose to annoy and create emotional distress, according to the complaint.

Police said that at least one of the emails was sent to the school superintendent in Cresskill on Jan. 20 this year. Michael Burke, the superintendent, did not respond to an email seeking comment.

Other media reports indicate the alleged harassment stemmed from the benching of the Kushners’ son, but they don’t describe how they reached that conclusion.

NorthJersey.com reported that the coach received emails at his home, and other messages were sent to school administrators. The parents pleaded not guilty to fourth-degree stalking, and they’re also accused of harassment.
