Two Honeoye boys basketball coaches have resigned in the wake of a hazing incident that threatens to end the varsity team’s season.

The Honeoye Central School Board of Education accepted the resignations during its meeting, Wednesday night.

Board members voice-voted on the seventh item on the agenda, titled “Personnel, which involved the two resignations, at the meeting.

No comments were made or questions were asked by board members before or after the vote.

Moments later, the board went into executive session, and Superintendent of Schools David C. Bills closely guarded information concerning the incident.

School is simulated life, and real life, and some of our kids have made some mistakes. We have great kids here, Bills said. …There has been a violation. But we’re working through it. And we’re looking forward to moving on.”

The district canceled Wednesday’s scheduled varsity game against Naples.

Although they have no head coaches as of Wednesday night, Bills countered earlier media reports saying the district as of yet has not chosen to end the remaining season of either team.
