University Of Utah To Hire Krystkowiak

SALT LAKE CITY — The search for a new mens’ basketball coach at the University of Utah has come to an end. At 2 p.m. on Monday the Utes will introduce Larry Krystkowiak as the replacement to Jim Boylen, who was relieved of his duties as head coach on March 12.

Krystkowiak was 42-20 as head coach at the University of Montana and took the Grizzlies to two NCAA tournament appearances from 2004 to 2006. During the 2006-07 season he served as an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks and was named interim head coach for the final 17 games of the season. Krystkowiak remained with the Bucks as head coach for the 2007-08 season. He worked as an assistant for the New Jersey Nets this season and will leave the NBA to return to the college game as the Utes’ 15th men’s basketball head coach.

Krystkowiak also worked as a head coach in the CBA, spending the 2003-04 season with the Idaho Stampede and has a history of returning to familiar places. He is a University of Montana alum. He was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the second round of the 1996 draft, but spent time playing for six different NBA teams including Milwaukee and the Utah Jazz.
