Feb 12, 2013UTA Women’s Coach Resigns After Learning Contract Won’t Be Renewed
UT Arlington women’s basketball coach Samantha Morrow has resigned, effective immediately, after learning that her contract would not be renewed, athletic director Jim Baker announced today.
Morrow has spent six seasons at the helm of the Mavericks. Her 2009 team earned a first-place division finish in conference play and made a WNIT appearance after playing in the championship game of the conference tournament.
“I informed Coach Morrow that I was not going to renew her contract at the end of the season, Baker said in a written statement. Upon hearing that decision, she decided to step aside so that transition could begin as soon as possible.
“Samantha has been a valuable member of the UT Arlington community during her time here, Baker added. We thank her for her contributions to the women’s basketball program and to the University. We wish her all the best.”
